The "Weingut Christian Bamberger - Steinhardter Hof" is located in the municipality of Bad Sobernheim in the German wine-growing region of
Nahe. Viticulture in this traditional family goes back to 1658. After an internship in
Napa Valley, studies at the
University of California in Davis and a degree in business administration at the University of
Mainz, Christian Bamberger jr. returned to his parents' winery in 2004 and has been running the business since 2007, already the 14th generation of the family to do so
The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites
Königsfels, Mühlberg (Schlossböckelheim), Domberg, Johannesberg (Sobernheim) as well as Marienpforter Klosterberg (Waldböckelheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Dorsa, Cabernet Cortis and Merlot. For the premium collection,
dense planting took place in the single vineyard sites Mühlberg and Königsfels.
The white wines are predominantly matured in steel tanks. The red wines mature in wooden barrels or in barrique after traditional mash fermentation. The premium wines include the "CB7 Collection" with "Sauvignon Blanc fumé" and "Pinot Noir QX" as well as the "nomen est omen" cuvée group with the white wines "Sorgenfrei" and "Nachhall", the rosé Cabernet "Lichtblick", and the red wines "Machtlust" and "Strahlkraft". The best-selling wine is the white-pressed "Merlot blanc de noir". The bottle-fermented sparkling wines "Riesling brut" and "Spätburgunder Blanc de noir brut" are also produced
