2019 Neuenahr Sonnenberg Frühburgunder Grosses Gewächs, Ahr, Germany

Clear, quite polished, somewhat smoky nose of ripe red and black berries with floral and herbal-vegetable nuances, moderate wood spice and mushroomy notes in the background. Taut, tart, juicy, pure-toned fruit, smoky and nutty wood notes, fine, youthful tannin, some power, some bite, good persistence, still undeveloped, again mushroomy traces in the background, also salty and peppery tones, has polish, very good, firm, a hint ethereal finish. Still needs to mature.
