2018 Appenheim Spätburgunder VDP.Aus Ersten Lagen trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Quite complex, deep and fine, somewhat undergrowthy, nutty, herbal, delicately floral and slightly peppery aroma of predominantly red berries with a hint of Amarena cherries and nuances reminiscent of wasabi and ginger. Firm, juicy, tart fruit with slightly nutty and bitter-chocolatey wood aromas, crumbly, still youthful tannins, good substance and persistence, some depth, hints of chamomile and laurel, salty and chalky tones, very good, again juicy and slightly peppery finish with a hint of dried mushrooms.
