2020 Köndringen Alte Burg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs, Baden, Germany

Firm, slightly dried herbal and a hint of peppery scent of ripe red and black berries with cherry aromas, floral tones, some undergrowth, star anise and hints of tobacco. Taut, tangy fruit with acid bite and present, still slightly drying tannins, tobacco and somewhat smoky notes on the palate, some acid bite, lots of salt, persistent on the palate, noticeable but integrated alcohol, black, peppery juniper spice, a hint of coffee in the background, good depth, a little Mediterranean character with tones reminiscent of oregano, very good, firm, juicy and ethereal finish with alcohol warmth but also bite and cooling eucalyptus notes.
