About Weingut Bergdolt - St. Lamprecht

One of the best producers of the region The wines keep constant high level and are usually the best in their respective category in the area.

The winery is located in the municipality of Neustadt-Duttweiler (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. Its origins lie in the estate in Duttweiler, which has belonged to the Benedictine monastery of St Lamprecht since 1290. After the dissolution of the monastery, the monastery estate in Duttweiler was bequeathed to the University of Heidelberg in the 16th century, which administered it for 200 years. In 1754, Jakob Bergdolt inherited it until it finally became the property of the Bergdolt family during the period of secularisation under Napoleon (1769-1821).

Quality viticulture

The vineyards were greatly expanded under Johannes Bergdolt (1801-1871). Friedrich Bergdolt (1876-1962), one of the pioneers of quality viticulture, began bottling as early as 1911. From 1982, Rainer and Günther Bergdolt managed the estate, and since 2024 the 9th generation, Carolin Bergdolt, has continued the family legacy.

Vineyards & grape varieties

The vineyards cover 29 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Mandelberg, Kalkberg and Kreuzberg (Duttweiler), Mandelberg (Kirrweiler), Eselshaut (Mußbach), Mäushöhle (Deidesheim), as well as Nussbien and Reiterpfad (Ruppertsberg). Three of the vineyards are classified as VDP.GROSSE LAGEN® and four as VDP.ERSTE LAGEN®.

Berdolt St Lamprecht - Weinberge

They are planted with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay, as well as small stocks of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, and the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are cultivated according to organic viticulture standards certified since 2011. This includes not using herbicides, fungicides and insecticides and cultivating the soil with natural minerals and organic fertilisers.

Product range

In accordance with the VDP classification model, the product range is divided into the levels Grosse Lage and Erste Lage, Ortsweine and Gutsweine. Authentic wines with origin and varietal typicity are produced, as well as bottle-fermented sparkling wines. They are almost exclusively vinified dry. The label dates back to 1928 and has only been slightly altered since then. The winery is a member of the VDP and the Association of Traditional Sparkling Wine Makers.
