2008 Burkheim Feuerberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Baden, Germany

Firm, somewhat smoky and slightly chocolaty-woody aroma of predominantly dark berries and some cherries with a little dry herbs and long pepper, some forest messengers and mushrooms. Firmly knit, somewhat developed, tangy fruit with smoky and also slightly sooty wood, some acid bite and fine sandy, very slightly drying tannin, quite dense, powerful and persistent on the palate, a little dark chocolate and smoky salt, some depth, notes of sage, coffee and herbal malt, very good, warm, spicy finish with dark juice. Better than the bottle a few years ago and will keep in this form.
