The winery is located in the municipality of Mülheim (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle
wine region. The ancestors of the family had been cultivating vineyards since 1706. Today the business is run by Jörg Bauer and his son Thomas. The vineyards cover more than eight hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Juffer(Brauneberg
), Elisenberg and Kirchberg (Veldenz), as well as Elisenberg and Sonnenlay
(Mülheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling, as well as Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Quality criteria in the vineyard are low pruning, targeted thinning out
and late, selective manual harvesting from October to November. After gentle pressing, cool and slow fermentation takes place in classic wooden barrels or in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by a long ageing on the fine yeast until spring of the following year. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also pressed. Fine spirits (marc) and fruit liqueurs are also produced.
