The winery is located in the municipality of Niederrußbach in the south of the wine-growing region Weinviertel(Lower Austria). It was first mentioned in 1794. The winery is managed by Herbert Baier. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the Ölberg (heavy, stony loess soil), Goldberg (sandy, light loess soil), Kirchboden (humusy loam, Tschernosem) and Grillberg vineyards. The cultivated white wine varieties are Grüner Veltliner, Gelber Muskateller, Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), the PIWI varieties Donauriesling, Donauveltliner and Blütenmuskateller, and also Gemischter Satz. The cultivated red wine varieties are Zweigelt, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Blauburger. The vines are cared for, among other things, by strengthening them with plant extracts and horse manure. Since 2021, the vineyards have been cultivated in accordance with certified organic viticulture guidelines.
Vinification is carried out according to non-invasive principles with as little intervention as possible. This includes, among other things, the renunciation of animal fining agents. The wines are matured for a long time. The premium wines of the house are the DAC white wine"Monument", which is fermented spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts and matured in wooden barrels or granite barrels, and the red wine "Zweigelt Kirchboden Grande Reserve", which is matured in 300-litre Austrian oak barrels. The red wines "Zweigelt Grande Reserve" and the cuvée "Wolke 7 Grande Reserve" are bottled in magnum. A bottle-fermented sparkling wine is also produced, as well as an ice wine in years with suitable weather conditions.
