The winery is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German Moselle
wine region. It is owned by Alfred Kirchen. The vineyards comprise 8.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel) in a wind-protected side valley on the lower course of the Saar. They are 85% planted with Riesling and the varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Some of the vines are up to 50 years old. We consistently practice natural, environmentally friendly viticulture. The aim is to produce wines with natural aromas that reflect the terroir of the vineyard. A slow and gentle spontaneous fermentation
with wild yeasts takes place for up to 12 months. In years with suitable weather conditions, an ice wine is also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced, as well as fine spirits (yeast, marc, fruit) and liqueurs in the in-house distillery.
