The winery is located in the municipality of Rossatz in the Wachau wine growing region on the right bank of the Danube (Lower Austria). The traditional family has been growing wine here for 150 years. The foundation stone for the business was laid by Heinz and Florentine Frischengruber in the 1980s. After graduating from the Klosterneuburg School of Viticulture and practical experience in South Africa, the Palatinate and New Zealand, son Georg has been running the business since 2011. The vineyards comprise ten hectares of vineyards in the Frauenweingärten, Goldberg, Kirnberg, Kellerweingarten, Kreuzberg, Pointen, Steiger and Zanzl sites. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltlinerä, Riesling,Pinot Blanc and Muskateller.
In the Kreuzberg vineyard, Georg Frischengruber and his brother Heinz Frischengruber (cellar master of the Wachau domain) cultivate "Granny's vineyard", an old stock of over 60-year-old Grüner Veltliner vines. All areas are cultivated in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way, without the use of insecticides and herbicides (glyphosate). The vines are cultivated in classical high culture. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are selected by hand and processed. Most of the wines are fermented spontaneously and stored on the for a long time. The winery is a member of Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus. All wines are produced in the three brands of this association.
