The winery "Horst & Irene Pelzmann" is located in the municipality of Berg in the foothills of the Hundsheim Mountains, near the town of Hainburg in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria. The traditional family has been growing grapes since 1850. The foundation stone for today's winery was laid by Herbert Pelzmann. His son Horst took over the business in 1993 and continues it today with the use of modern cellar technology. A wine tavern is attached.
The vineyards cover 15 hectares on the slopes of the Königswarte and the Spitzerberg. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sylvaner and Müller-Thurgau, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon. The prerequisites for quality are appropriate pruning, foliage care and yield reduction. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed through selective manual harvesting
The white wines are vinified fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks. The red wines mature in large wooden bar rels or in barrique. The premium wines include Holzweingarten Reserve Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder Reserve, REGIS Cuvée (Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt, CS) and Spitzerberg Blaufränkisch. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the associations Römerweinstraße Carnuntum, Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter and Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
