The winery is located south of Pomerol
(Bordeaux) in the area of the same name. The name comes from the founding family, presumably of Scottish origin. It is usually referred to briefly as "Château Certan" or "Château Certan de May". Once it was a part of Vieux Château Certan
. In 1925 it came into the possession of the Barreau-Badar family, today it is managed by Jean-Luc Barreau. The vineyards cover five hectares and are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The long-lasting red wine is aged for 24 months in 50% new barriques.
