The winery is located in the municipality of Greve in the heart of the Chianti region (province of Florence) in the Italian region of Tuscany. Wine was already being grown on this site 800 years ago. It was acquired in 1979 by the former textile entrepreneur Roccaldo Acuti. Today it is run by daughter Maria Acuti and son-in-law Tommasso Paglione. Vittorio Fiore is responsible as oenologist, Luica Ercoli as cellar master. The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards planted with the red wine varieties Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, and the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of organic viticulture. Artificial irrigation is avoided for environmentally friendly reasons.
By thinning out and rigorous selection of the grapes at harvest, a rigorous limitation of yields is achieved. Around 10% of the light must is extracted from the grape mash to achieve a concentration of phenolic substances. The flagship is the DOCG Chianti-Classico made from 100% Sangiovese. This one matures for 16 months, the Riserva for 24 months in 30-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels. The two Super-Tuscan IGT "Anfiteatro" (100% Sangiovese) and "Bruno di Rocca" (Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) mature for 18 months in French barriques. About 50,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, 70% of which are exported to Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain and Russia, as well as Canada, USA, Japan, Australia and China.
