2014 Etna DOC Rosso "Altero", Sicily, Italy

Tart, firm and deep, somewhat leathery and dried-floral aroma of partly dried black and a little red berries, dried tomatoes, black olives and dried meat with smoky and dark earthy tones. Firmly woven, tart, again rather dark fruit, present, crumbly sandy, slightly drying tannins, powerful and dense on the palate, tobacco, ashy and smoky earthy notes, flavors reminiscent of peat in the background, persistent, good depth, nutty flavours, tar, liquorice and a little leather, slightly rustic style, thereby quite complex, ethereal notes, very good to long, warm, very spicy finish with partly pickled and dried fruit.
