DOCG area (also Diano or Diano d'Alba) for red wine in the Italian region of Piedmont. The DOC was upgraded in 2010 and the zone covers 330 hectares of vineyards in the area of the mountain town of Diano d'Alba, which gives the wine its name. It is located between the more well-known DOCG areas of Barolo and Barbaresco. The 75 sunny southern slopes have a special status. Thanks to the efforts of the municipality and the setting of low yield limits (56 hl/ha), official recognition as an individual vineyard(Sori) was achieved for the first time in Italy.

The red grape variety comes from Italy. The name means "little sweets" and refers to the sweet, slightly low acid grapes.
