2019 Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, Tuscany, Italy

Deep, firm and complex, still closed, tobacco, dried herbal and slightly cedary aroma of very ripe black berries with red berry nuances, a touch of tar, pepper, paprika, fine herbal hints and a hint of sweet chestnuts. Tight, dense and deep, tart and juicy, still completely undeveloped dark fruit, nutty and smoky wood spice, some smoke, tar and roasted nuts, a lot of power and certain warmth, cedary hints, a trace of juniper and black olives in the background, then a certain freshness appears, a lot of salt, quite complex, long, firm, still completely closed, toasty finish with black berry and very fine minty flavours. More Mediterranean than other vintages; increases over days; needs time.
