2015 Meersburg Lerchenberg Spätburgunder trocken ***, Baden, Germany

Light smoky, spicy oak on the nose, dried herbs and peppery notes, partly preserved red berries and cherries, spicy traces, some licorice, dried floral traces. Full-bodied, ripe, preserved fruit on the palate, some smoky oak and bacon, toasted and some malted notes, hint of mushrooms, good substance and persistence, clearly noticeable high alcohol, generally well integrated fine sandy tannins, salty traces, good persistence, more bacon and preserved fruit on a very good alcoholic finish.
