2021 Nierstein Pettenthal Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Firm, somewhat dried planty to tobacco aroma of ripe, not only yellow stone fruit and partly preserved citrus fruits with floral, delicately yellow-spicy, herbal and hints of creamy tones. Ripe, juicy, a touch sweetish fruit, yellow but also dark stone fruit, citrus, clearly ethereal-herbal aromas and also a little dark berries, very fine, ripe acidity and grip, persistent on the palate, good substance and some depth, mineral in the background, again creamy hints, certain depth, very delicate caramel, some yellow spice, fine spiciness reminiscent of chilli peppers, very good, juicy, delicately sweet finish with tart dark, a little tobacco spice, smoke, sweet yeast cake and again clearly mineral tones.

Editor note: Firm and quite deep, somewhat vegetal to herbal, also still slightly yeasty aroma with stone fruit aromas, hints of dark berries, a hint of smoke, noble tobacco, parmesan, aubergine and clear minerality. Ripe, juicy, a touch sweetish fruit with delicate plum tones and a little yeast crumble, lively, fine, polished acidity, delicate grip, persistent, clearly mineral, floral and dark berry nuances in the background, some depth, a hint of pepper, becomes firmer, more complex and deeper with air, very good, sweetly juicy and grippy, also mineral finish with traction and delicate jalapeno spiciness.
