The wine-growing area is located in the northwest of Hungary, about 50 kilometers north of Lake Balaton (Balaton). In the past, oxidatively grown wines were produced here, which competed with the Tokaj wines. The climate is characterised by warm, moderate summers with plenty of sunshine and frequent winds. The vineyards cover around 700 hectares of vines on partly loamy soil on the slopes of an extinct volcanic cone.
