DOC area for red and rosé wines in the Italian region of Sardinia. The poet Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863-1938) named the wine from Oliena "Nepente" after the opium-like intoxicant of the ancient Greeks. The zone covers the entire island. The Classico area includes the province of Nuoro (with Ogliastra). There are three subzones that may be mentioned on the label. The Capo Ferrato subzone includes the municipalities of Castiadas, Muravera, San Vito, Villaputzu and Villasimius in the province of Cagliari.
