2009 Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC Merlot, Friuli/Venezia-Giulia, Italy

Vegetal notes and some mixed pickles on the nose, berries, some pepepr and old oak. Fairly cool, tart berry fruit on the palate, more vegetal notes, touch of mixed pickles and some onions, herbaceous notes, light spicy oak, fairly prominent, slightly brittle tannins, light acid bite, has some backbone, attractive to good finish.

Editor note: Slightly diffuse nose, prominent vegetal notes, touch of smoked bacon, earthy notes, slightly sharp mixed pickles, mixed berries and cherries. More mixed pickles and preserved mixed berries on the palate, light plummy notes, some chocolate, medium-fine tannins, jammy notes, noticeable alcohol, diffuse again on the finish.
