2008 Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC Rosso Scuro, Friuli/Venezia-Giulia, Italy

Predominantly preserved black and some red berries on the nose, candied cherries, herbaceous and vegetal notes, earthy notes, animal notes and a hint of gunpowder. Smoked bacon on the palate, roasted notes, dried herbs, chocolate, very ripe and partly dried fruit, partly mature, partly astringent, slightly brittle tannins, quite a warm style with noticeable alcohol, touch of whisky in the background, some mixed pickles, some nougat and cocoa notes on a slightly indifferent, slightly alcoholic, good to very good finish.
