Editor note: Cool nose, prominent vegetal notes, light earthy notes, hint of mushrooms and predomnantly dark berries. Clear, tart, juicy, fairly cool fruit on the palate, delicate vegetal and herbaceous aromas, delicate smoky and nutty notes, hint of bacon, fairly persistent, some bite, fine tannic grip, mineral traces, good to very good finish.
Best to drink: To 2020

Next to Bergland (Carinthia, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol, Vorarlberg) and Steirerland (Styria) the third Austrian wine growing region. With around 90%, it is by far the largest of the three. It includes the vineyards of the wine-growing regions of Burgenland, Lower Austria and Vienna (was a separate wine-growing region until 2009). The designation applies to local wines.
