2015 Süd-Burgenland Ried Reihburg Blaufränkisch trocken "r2", Burgenland, Austria

Firmly woven, very deep and complex black berry nose with tobacco aromas, a little tar, pepper, nutty tones and cherries. Very tightly knit, enormously concentrated, still youthful, fresh, dark fruit, distinctly juniper and peppery aromas, some acid bite and present, fine tannin, dense and persistent on the palate, good depth, lots of power, chalky and salty minerality in the background, herbaceous tones, plenty of salt, quite compact structure, deep and very concentrated, dark roasted spice, very good to long finish with ripe black juice, roasted aromas and cubeb pepper. Was apparently still a little indisposed at our tasting last year and has once again made tremendous gains.

Editor note: Clear, deep and firm, complex aroma of ripe black berries with tobacco, nutty, slightly smoky and bitter chocolate wood aromas, some roasting, dried floral nuances, juniper and a hint of tar. Concentrated, tart, firm dark fruit, smoky, roasted-nutty and cocoa-spicy wood aromas, some coffee, fine sandy, slightly drying tannin, dense and persistent on the palate, lots of power, a little herbal, juniper and pepper, ethereal traces, distinct minerality, very good, firm, dense and complex, just a little drying finish.
