Editor note: Still very slightly yeasty, somewhat vegetal to herbal, almondy and hints of smoky scent of partly preserved yellow fruits with a hint of raspberries. Clear, juicy, sweet fruit with slightly minty hints, lively acidity, still light carbonic acid, delicate tannin grip and a certain persistence, salty and chalky tones, good to very good finish with traction.

Area (also Mittelmosel) of the German Moselle wine-growing region (see details there). Bernkastel-Kues, the municipality that gives the town its name, has a population of around 8,000 and is located on the Middle Moselle in the district of Bernkastel-Wittrich , about 50 kilometres from Trier in the federal state of Rhine Valley Palatinate. The wine-growing region is located in Rhineland-Palatinate and to a small extent also in Saarland in Germany. The Moselle River winds its way from Trier to Koblenz over 237 km, but as the crow flies it is only 96 km. The oldest vineyards were on the banks of the Rhine, Neckar and Moselle. These rivers with their long valleys, as well as their tributaries, are still the classic wine-growing areas today. Viticulture was founded by the colonisation of Gaul by the Greeks and then brought to perfection by Roman culture. The conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) brought Roman viticulture from the RhôneRhône...
