The "Riesling-Weingut Karl Erbes" is located in the municipality of Ürzig (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle
wine growing region. The family business was founded in 1967 by the trained cooper Karl Erbes, since 2002 it has been managed by his son Stefan as a trained cellar master. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vines on partly extremely steep slopes in the individual locations Treppchen
(Erden) and Würzgarten
(Ürzig). They are exclusively planted with unrooted Riesling vines, some of which are 70 to 80 years old. Special emphasis is placed on low yields and selective manual harvesting. The wines are traditionally aged in large oak barrels. About 70% of the production is exported to Japan, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the USA.
