2005 trocken Phoenix, Burgenland, Austria

Clearly toasty-woody and somewhat vegetal aroma of cooked black berries and some cherries with tobacco and sooty notes. Ripe, again boiled down dark fruit, toasty-sooty wood, some liquorice and tar, present, a little drying tannin, lots of power, good persistence, has bite and grip, bacony tones, some depth, very good, only again a little woody finish.

Editor note: Preserved sour cherries and mixed berries on the nose, delicate floral notes, herbs and spices, mineral notes, smoky and roasted notes. Cool, clear style, quite juicy on the palate, quite a lot of smoky and roasted oak, sooty notes, fairly prominent fine and slightly astringent tannins, persistent, noticeable mineral notes, good depth, long finish.
