2002 Mittelburgenland trocken Phoenix, Burgenland, Austria

Tart roasted and animal notes on the nose, behind this black cherry and berry fruit, mineral notes, malt and bread crusts. Concentrated, but still very tart, dominated by oak with smoky and roasted notes, slightly sandy but hardly astringent tannins, good structure and concentration, not particularly deep, full-bodied, good finish.
