The winery is located in the municipality of La Morra in the Italian region of Piedmont. The founder Renato Ratti (1934-1988), after studying oenology in Alba, went to Brazil, where he worked in the production of sparkling wine and cinzano. In 1965 he returned to his homeland and bought vineyards in the Barolo area. As President of the Consorzio del Barolo, he made a significant contribution to the renewal of winemaking techniques in the Barolo area. He also wrote several books about the wines of Piedmont. Among his most famous works are "Innovation" and "Barolo il Grande". From his son comes the book "Nebbiolo Vitigno di Terroir". In 1969 his nephew Massimo Martinelli joined the company. Under his responsibility, the barrel ageing process was greatly shortened and bottle aging was accelerated. Renato Ratti promoted the idea of the terroir and made successful efforts to obtain recognition of the individual sites in the Langhebergen. After his early death, the company has been run by his son Pietro Ratti since 1988. In 2002 a new winery was built. The vineyards cover 30 hectares. The product range includes various Barolo (e.g. Conca Marcenasco, Marcenasco, Rocche Marcenasco), Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba, Monferrato and Nebbiolo d'Alba.
