The winery is located in the municipality of Thüngersheim (Maindreieck area) 12 kilometres downstream from Würzburg
in the German wine growing region of Franconia
. The traditional business was originally located in the historic town centre, the archway dates back to 1604, and was worked as a mixed agricultural enterprise including viticulture. In 1960, it was relocated to the outskirts of Thüngersheim and Rudolf & Hannelore Hart converted it to viticulture and asparagus cultivation with gastronomy and hotel. Since 1998 the company has been managed by son Hans-Jürgen Hart and his wife Claudia. The hotel restaurant "Winzerhof" is run separately by a tenant family. The vineyards comprise seven hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Benediktusberg
(Retzbach), as well as Johannisberg
(Thüngersheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Kerner and Huxelrebe as well as the red wine varieties Spätburgunder, Dornfelder, Cabernet Dorsa and Portugieser. The cultivation is carried out according to the principles of near-natural viticulture. In years with suitable weather conditions, noble sweet dessert wines such as Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines are also produced. We also produce bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble spirits (marc, yeast, grape, fruit) and liqueurs.
