2007 Boca DOC Vigna Cristiana, Piedmont, Italy

Developed, old woody, nutty and earthy aroma with dried vegetal aromas, iodine, dried flowers and root vegetables, liquorice as well as notes of dried red and also a little black fruit. Quite firm, developed, dried-looking fruit, nutty, tobacco and slightly caramel tones, again also iodine, lots of cardamom on the palate, certain power and persistence, cocoa and hints of tobacco in the background, fine sandy, slightly drying tannin, salty minerality, a touch of soup herbs and violets, good to very good, somewhat drying finish with medicinal-herbal nuances. Either the first bottle was not up to scratch or it has developed very much to its advantage
