Medici Ermete

The headquarters of the winery is located in the municipality of Gaida (province of Reggio Emilia) in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. The estate was founded in the late 19th century by Remigio Medici (a descendant of the famous family) and expanded by his son Hermes. Today it is run by the fourth generation of the family, Valter and Giorgio Medici. Otello Venturelli is responsible as oenologist. The vineyards cover a total of 75 hectares. They are planted with the red wine varieties Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Lambrusco Barghi, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco Maestri, Lambrusco Marani and Lambrusco Salamino, as well as the white wine varieties Chardonnay and Trebbiano (?). The average yield is 30 to 40% below the DOC specifications

The wines from different provinces are marketed under the three lines Castelli del Duca (province of Piacenza), Medici Ermete (province of Reggio Emilia) and Poggio Pollino (province of Bologana). They are produced according to the principle of "traceability" (origin). The product range includes DOC wines Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa, Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro and Reggiano, as well as various IGT wines. The winery is a member of the Consorzio Italia del Vino and Consorzio per la promozione dei Vini Reggiani.
