2018 Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT "Col de Réy", Alto Adige, Italy

Firm, fairly deep, somewhat fleshy and leathery nose, ripe black berries, some tomato, black olives, dried herbs and tobacco, with animal notes reminiscent of horse stables and earthy, rooty-vegetable tones. Tart dark fruit with slightly bitterish wood notes, again some stalky-animalic and also earthy tones, herbal notes and pepper, slightly plummy notes on the palate, a hint of bread bark and malt, good depth, salt in the background, ethereal spice, lots of strength and alcohol, tobacco and cedary tones, a little pipe tobacco, plus black olives and a hint of sultanas, very good, powerful finish with ripe juice and spice.

Firm fruit with a hint of cocoa, present, fine sandy tannin, hints of thyme, currants and wax, some spicy wood in the background, dense and persistent, certain depth, slightly sooty notes in the very good finish.
