2000 Bad Kösen Saalhäuser Spätburgunder trocken, Saale-Unstrut, Germany

Woody aroma of preserved plums and spices, reminds very much of red wines from the south of France. Quite juicy fruit with slightly dusty and dry tannin, perceptible alcohol, lively acidity, quite cool style, neat and dusty finish. This is good red wine but does have a nothing in common with Spätburgunder. We do not know how high the percentage of Dornfelder and/or Regent is, therefore the rating is valid for the actual quality, not for the variety.
