2012 Nierstein Pettenthal Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheinhessen, Germany

Firm, fairly deep, somewhat vegetal and herbaceous nose, ripe yellow fruit with a hint of yellow spice, smoky traces and distinct minerality. Ripe, concentrated, juicy, somewhat melting, yet completely dry fruit, nutty, vegetal and yellow-spicy notes, some nut butter, very fine, yet taut acidity, clear minerality, has grip, power and depth, a certain tension, but also inner calm, ethereal traces, tightens again clearly with air, still has energy, very good, firm, juicy, finely spicy, very slightly buttery and again smoky-mineral finish. Even stronger today than in its early youth - and perfect to drink now.
