2008 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Porphyr, Alto Adige, Italy

Preserved black berries on the nose, light animal and meaty notes, light vegetal notes and dried herbs, cherries, earthy and mineral traces, smoky oak. Clear, juicy, partly jammy fruit on the palate, smoky oak and chocolate, fairly prominent fien tannins, quite full-bodied, but also quite polished, still youthful, persistent, sugar candy and herbs in the background, light mineral notes and a light acid bite, very good finish. With aeration initially takes a turn for the worse, but then improves over several days.
