2008 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Gries, Alto Adige, Italy

Clear, fairly polished nose, ripe black berries, nutty notes, hint of tobacco, dried herbs and some licorice. Ripe, polished, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, elegant acidity, fine sandy tannins, dried herbs and mountain flowers in the background, some licorice and peppery traces, persistent, salty mineral notes, lively and still quite fresh, some depth, light bite, herbaceous and salty notes on a very good tart, juicy finish.

Editor note: Tart nose, preserved black berries and cherries, light smoky notes, dried vegetal traces, some oak. Firm, juicy fruit on the palate, lively acid bite, some toasted oak, fairly persistent, earthy notes and dried herbs, some dark chocolate, fairly prominent and fairly fine tannins, very good finish.
