2019 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot-Cabernet Riserva "Anticus", Alto Adige, Italy

Quite firm and deep aroma of ripe, partly preserved predominantly black fruits with some iodine and blood, tobacco aromas, a little Mediterranean herbs, black olives and a hint of tar and smoke. Ripe, again partly preserved fruit with smoky and somewhat toasty wood notes, iodine, leathery tones and sweet tobacco, powerful and persistent on the palate, crumbly-sandy tannin, dried-meaty hints, a little dark ethereal spice in the background, some coffee grounds and bitter chocolate, salty notes, gains in juiciness and freshness with air, very good, tight, juicy finish, again with tart, smoky wood tones.

Best to drink: Mitte 2023 bis 2032+. What our ratings mean
