The "Kellerei Nals Margreid" is located in Nals in the Italian wine-growing area of South Tyrol ( Trentino-South Tyrol region). It was founded in 1985 through the merger of the two traditional wineries Nals (1932) and Margreid-Entiklar (1954). Today, 140 winegrowers along the South Tyrolean Wine Route cultivate around 170 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 200 to 900 metres above sea level. Gottfried Pollinger is the sales manager and Harald Schraffl is the cellar master.
The vineyards are carefully tended by hand in a natural, sustainable manner. Pests and diseases are preferably combated using ecological means. The white wine varieties Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc), Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris), Müller-Thurgau, Moscato Giallo (Goldmuskateller), Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir), Vernatsch, Lagrein, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are cultivated. They are grown on traditional pergolas and modern wire frames.
The extensive product range includes various red wines and white wines from the DOC areas of Kalterersee, St. Magdalener and Südtiroler. The premium wines include Pinot Bianco "Sirmian", Pinot Bianco "Penon", Sauvignon "Mantele", Sauvignon "Gennen", Vernatsch "Galea", Pinot Nero "Mazzon", Lagrein Riserva "Gries", Cabernet Riserva "Lafot", Riserva Merlot Cabernet "Anticus" and Baronesse Passito "Baron Salvadori". Around 950,000 bottles of wine are produced every year, 30% of which are exported to European countries and the USA.
