2018 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva "Segen", Alto Adige, Italy

Quite firm, a hint of smokiness, nuttiness and hints of tar on the nose of very ripe black berries with bitter chocolate aromas, a little tobacco, hints of ash as well as toasty and peppery nuances. Firm, juicy, ripe fruit, smoky, toasty and dark ethereal spice, a little herbs and a hint of citrus zest on the palate, chocolatey tones, powerful and persistent on the palate, a little coffee and ice confectionery, salty nuances in the background, still young, very good, quite firm finish.

Editor note: Clear, relatively polished, black berry scent with cherry aromas, floral nuances and a hint of liquorice. Tight, tart, juicy, fresh fruit, polished, youthful, very fine tannins, some acid bite, smoky wood aromas, a little pepper and dry herbs, ethereal nuances, persistent, powerful and strong alcohol, cooling ethereal notes, a little cocoa and salt, very good, firm, juicy and tart-spicy finish, again with smoky tones.

Editor note: Somewhat smoky aroma of black berries and cherries with dried planty to tobacco nuances and restrained wood spice. Ripe, juicy, dark fruit, some bite and quite fine, ripe tannin, persistent on the palate, bitter-chocolate notes and a hint of smoke, very light peppery spice, nutty wood tones, lots of power, minty traces, very good, juicy and spicy, slightly warm alcohol finish.
