2009 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Taber, Alto Adige, Italy

Firm fragrance of ripe black berries with slightly chocolaty hints, a touch of liquorice, smoke and hints of herbs. Ripe, preserved-fruity, sweetish-juicy, warm fruit, again chocolaty tones and some herbs, peppery-spicy flavours at the palate, a lot of power, lasting, crumbly tannin, smoky traces, very good, again somewhat compote and warm finish with ethereal notes

Editor note: Tart nose, still slightly reductive, preserved sour cherries and black berries, vegetal and floral as well as light earthy notes, hint of licorice. Polished fruit on the palate, prominent chocolate, some herbaceous and floral traces, fine sandy, predominantly mature tannins, slightly sweetish and creamy, licorice, powerful but also fairly cool style, still very youthful and undeveloped, almost austere and smooth, slightly milky, very good finish.
