2018 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot Riserva "Gant", Alto Adige, Italy

Ripe, rather firm and deep, rather black berry nose with some herbal, meaty, nutty and slightly mushroomy aromas as well as nuances reminiscent of cocoa. Firm, quite polished, ripe, juicy fruit with some bitter chocolate and smoky wood tones, present, fine sandy tannin, good substance and persistence, dark minerality, long pepper, star anise and mint in the background, has power, very good finish with pressure.

Editor note: Firm, quite polished aroma of black berries with tart spicy, slightly dried planty to tobacco and mineral notes. Ripe, juicy, partly dried fruit, clearly ethereal-spicy wood aromas, some cocoa and smoke, dry herbs in the background, fine sandy tannin, noticeable alcohol warmth, also salt in the background, a hint of lavender, very good finish with alcohol warmth and some bite to it
