2015 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot Riserva gant, Alto Adige, Italy

Firm, slightly fleshy-animal scent of dried tomatoes and peppers, ripe mainly black berries, black olives and oregano with moderate, slightly smoky, roasted wood notes and earthy tones. Quite firm, very ripe, partly preserved and dried fruit, nutty and chocolaty wood, partly braised red peppers and dried tomatoes, again also dried herb spice reminiscent of oregano, noticeable, warming alcohol, crumbly, yet slightly drying tannin, good substance and persistence, plenty of power, very good finish with ripe, warm juice and noticeable alcohol

Editor note: Ripe black berries on the nose, herbaceous notes, touch of blood and metallic notes, hint of bacon, some dried tomatoes and capers, hint of licorice, moderate oak. Ripe, juicy, dark, partly preserved fruit on the palate, delicate sooty notes and some dark chocolate, fairly prominent licorice, touch of juniper and traces of dried vegetables, good persistence and substance, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, prominent spicy cocoa and a hint of rum punch on a very good, slightly creamy finish.
