The winery is located in the municipality of Viessling (Spitz a. D. ) in the Spitzer Graben in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It is managed by Josef Högl. The mostly terraced vineyards cover 7.5 hectares of vineyards in the Burgberg, Bruck, Mitterfeld, Schön, Steinertal and Wandl vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling and Grüner Veltliner (40% each), as well as smaller stocks of Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Neuburger. Further areas in Dürnstein and Loiben (Loibenberg) are leased, which are planted with Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Chardonnay. Natural viticulture is consistently practiced. Through cover crop of the marginal zones is to prevent erosion. The hand harvest takes place in up to three passes. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Steinertal, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Schön, Riesling Smaragd Bruck and Riesling Reserve Loibenberg. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies and apricot jam are also produced. The winery is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus association.
