The winery is located in the municipality of Viessling (Spitz a. D.) in the Spitzer Graben in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. It is managed by Josef Högl. The mostly terraced vineyards cover 7.5 hectares of vineyards in the Burgberg, Bruck, Mitterfeld, Schön, Steinertal and Wandl vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling and Grüner Veltliner (40% each), as well as smaller stocks of Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Neuburger. Further areas in Dürnstein and Loiben (Loibenberg) are leased, which are planted with Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Chardonnay. Natural viticulture is consistently practised. Erosion is prevented by means of a cover crop of the peripheral zones. The hand harvest takes place in up to three rounds. The premium wines include Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Steinertal, Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Schön, Riesling Smaragd Bruck and Riesling Reserve Loibenberg. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies and apricot jam are also produced. The winery is a member of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus association.
