2018 Ried Geyer Sauvignon Blanc, Burgenland, Austria

Firm, somewhat nutty and vegetal aroma with slightly smoky and tobacco notes, ripe yellow fruits, fennel and herbal nuances. Ripe, tightly knit, warm fruit, moderate acidity, some butter on the palate, nutty and slightly fennel tones, lots of power and noticeable but quite well integrated alcohol, tobacco traces, a little legume and broccoli, salt in the background, quite compact structure, very good, firm and at the same time melting finish with slight alcohol pungency. Does not come close to its youthful form at the moment, especially because the alcohol is increasingly asserting itself.

Editor note: Quite firm and deep, a touch developed, nutty, mushroomy and hinted smoky scent of ripe yellow fruits with a hint of dry herbs, laurel and pepper as well as distinct minerality. Firm, bone-dry fruit with noble yellow-fruity aromas, a hint of mint and sage, fine, lively acidity, dense and persistent, lots of grip of ripe tannin, delicate melting, hints of tobacco and coffee, good depth, clearly bright minerality, long, animating, complex and very slightly yeasty finish.
