2011 Merlot trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Tart earthy nose, hint of tobacco, some undergrowth, ripe, partly dried dark berries and cherries, some dried herbs, meaty animal notes, some licorice, light spicy cedary notes, mineral traces. Ripe, slightly jammy, soft and warm fruit on the palate, integrated sandy, partly astringent tannins, spicy oak, vanilla and chocolate, coffee and cocoa, noticeable warm alcohol, slightly soft contours, full body, herbaceous and salty traces, good persistence, warm alcohol, oak and chocolate on a fairly soft finish. Currently not in peak condition.
