2006 Merlot trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Fairly mature tart nose, cedary spice and some tobacco, black berries, spicy oak, some dried herbs, hint of iodine, nutshells, light mineral notes in the background. Firm, tart, ripe fruit on the palate, cedary notes and some tobacco, hint of sugar candy and licorice, some dark chocolate in the background, firm, fine tannins, full-bodied, but also fairly polished, touch of eucalyptus in the background, good depth, clear contours, grip and spice on a firm, tart, juicy finish.
