The winery is located in the municipality of Randersacker in the Maindreieck area (south of the Main) in the German wine-growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 2018 by Florian Reus. A very active athlete and running coach, the long-distance runner (ultra-runner) says he is passionate about viticulture. The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Randersacker, Eibelstadt, Sommerhausen and Mainstockheim. The varieties cultivated are Chardonnay,Pinot Blanc, Silvaner (some of the vines are 80 years old and very old), Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, Pinot Noir and Riesling.
The vines are cultivated by meticulous foliage care by hand. Depending on the vintage and conditions, targeted defoliation is carried out. The aim is to produce berries that are as small and thick-skinned as possible with an optimal skin-to-juice ratio. The yield is reduced by thinning out. Only physiologically ripe and healthy grapes are processed through selective manual harvesting. The grapes are pressed in a traditional basket press with the desired must oxidation.
During vinification, great importance is attached to the typicality of the terroir. After Spontangärungspontaneous fermentation using the vineyard's own yeasts, the wines are aged on the lees for at least 10 months with almost no bâtonnage. Depending on the type of wine, they are matured in stainless steel and/or in barriques. There is no fining and bottling takes place without filtration. They are marketed as country wines after 20 months at the earliest. All of these aspects are aimed at creating long-lasting wines that are known as "long-distance runners" (starting line, world champions).
