Regional appellation for exclusively red and rosé wines in French Burgundy. The vineyards cover some 430 hectares of vines on calcareous soils in the departments of Côte d'Or (91 communes), Rhône (85), Sâone-et-Loire (154) and Yonne (54). The wines so designated have a very old tradition.
