The winery "Domäne Pöttelsdorf Familymade" is located in the wine-growing area Rosalia in Burgenland (Austria). The origin of the estate lies in a winegrowers cooperative founded in 1956 with 35 winegrowers. In 2009 a restructuring into a family-owned winery took place. The extended families Schandl and Kurz as well as four good friends (Family and Friends) are now the owners of the winery. Thomas Schandl is responsible for the economic fate and Rainer Kurz as cellar master in the business.
The vineyards cover 115 hectares, 90% of which are planted with the red wine varieties Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt, as well as some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The familymade concept includes a responsible and sustainable use of resources. This means environmentally friendly cultivation according to the rules of integrated plant protection (KIP), terroir-related vine planting, quality-enhancing yield reduction and soil examinations every 5 years.
Premium wines include the Amore line, i.e. varietally grown Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot wines, as well as the Top-Cuvée Attacke (Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot). Many wines are also available as magnum (1.5l), double magnum (3l), jéroboam (5l) and in large bottles up to 18 litres. From 3 litres capacity upwards, the bottles are provided with sealing wax and, if desired, also individually labelled by hand. Special attention is paid to rosé wines. The Blaufränkisch rosé LOVE BIRD is available dry and semi-dry, as well as Frizzante and Spätlese.
